Headless Commerce Builder Saleor Raises $8M Funding Round

A seed-extension round led by Target Global and Zalando

Poland-based Saleor, an open-source headless eCommerce platform, has raised an $8 million seed extension round led by Target Global and Zalando. SNR VC Kevin Mahaffey, Cherry Ventures, and TQ Ventures also participated in the round.

Per Tech Crunch, this round is noteworthy, showing that “open source is gaining traction in e-commerce where normally proprietary solutions abound.” According to co-founder Mirek Mencel, “everybody has to optimize for the experience they provide to their customers. And this is nontrivial in today’s world where expectations are growing, so Saleor is enabling that.”

Elsewhere, BigCommerce wants to make it easier for businesses to launch composable experiences, CrafterCMS and Magnolia add new AI features, and Sitecore has released their list of MVPs.
